Since 2009, the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre – a partnership of the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association and the Rural Municipalities of Alberta – has helped Alberta municipalities, non-profit organizations, and schools, implement energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions.
Over 100 municipal governments in Alberta have created real savings and real change in their operations. City, Town, Village, Summer Village, County, Municipal District – no community is too big or too small to participate.
We are working together for a low-carbon future.
Small changes make a huge difference.
Upgrading lighting, thermostats, heating and ventilation systems, installing solar PV systems, implementing weatherization measures, integrating electric vehicles into the municipal fleet, and hiring an energy manager – it all adds up to making a real difference for local Albertans.
Here’s what a fleet and transit services manager says about our programs:
“This assistance lowers the purchasing costs and allows us to introduce more energy efficient units to our fleet. Which in turn helps lower our fuel consumption and GHG emissions. Banff looks forward to working further with the Action Centre on upcoming projects including further electric vehicle purchases and increasing charging infrastructure. Working together to keep Banff’s fleet running clean and efficiently.”Chris McGregor, Town of Banff, Electric Vehicles for Municipalities Program participant

A chief administrative officer had this to say about working with us:
“Partnering with the Action Centre and the solar contractor has been a positive experience for our community. Both organizations were extremely professional and worked collaboratively to reduce the amount of time and staff resources we had to give to complete the project.”Kurtis Pratt, Town of Raymond, Alberta Municipal Solar Program participant
