As part of the MCCAC’s Alberta Municipal Solar Program (AMSP), the Town of Mayerthorpe installed an 165.6 kW solar PV system at the Mayerthorpe Exhibition Centre.

The project was completed in 2020.

Our biggest consumer of electricity is our arena. It’s got the right structure to do something like this without a whole bunch of engineering involved so it was a perfect fit. We feed the grid in the summer time and consume it in the winter. We have done a number of smaller projects over the last few years aimed at making strides to be more energy efficient. It’s great for a little town like ours to be on the leading edge of something like this.

Janet Jabush, Mayor of the Town of Mayerthorpe
