OVERVIEW

As part of the Electric Vehicles for Municipalities program Sturgeon County purchased a new fully electric John Deere Gator TE. The County received a $6,308.66 rebate from the MCCAC to help cover the $21,028.87 purchase price.

This project was funded by the Government of Alberta.

APPROACH

The Gator TE will be used for managing waste, weed trimming, preparing shelters for rental, and for other general park maintenance duties. This is the first electric off-road vehicle that the County will be using.

RESULTS

The Gator utility vehicle is 100 per cent electric and offers an emissions-free alternative to traditional maintenance equipment, ensuring an environmentally responsible approach. Residents enjoying Cardiff Park, while the Gator is working nearby, will appreciate the reduced noise level. The Gator will also reduce annual operating costs due to its higher efficiency and reduced maintenance costs.

“Not only will this vehicle perform a range of maintenance activities, it will also contribute to the park’s peacefulness and resident enjoyment. It will be a great addition for both our community and our valued green spaces.”
