Alberta Low Carbon Cohort

The Climate Ready Infrastructure Service’s Alberta Low Carbon Cohort will enable communities to accelerate your climate mitigation projects with expert support and peer collaboration — at no cost.

Delivered in partnership with the Canadian Urban Institute (CUI) and the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC), Albertan communities are invited to submit by October 15, 2025. This initiative helps local governments plan and advance low-carbon infrastructure projects through 1:1 technical support, a webinar series, and peer learning sessions to help local governments scope infrastructure projects, improve energy efficiency in retrofits, and identify funding sources for implementation.

What is Offered?

This program includes:

  • Three expert-led webinars focused on education, project scoping, and capacity building
  • Peer learning sessions to share challenges, solutions, and insights with other Alberta local governments
  • Up to 60 hours of technical support from CRIS-contracted experts
  • Funding readiness guidance to align your project with future potential funding opportunities
  • Fully virtual delivery for maximum flexibility

Who Can Submit?

Municipalities and Indigenous communities and organizations based in Alberta are eligible to submit and participate in program activities. Eligible criteria include:

  • Located in Alberta and serve a population of approximately 30,000 or less
  • Have a project identified in a capital, operational, or asset management plan
  • Commit to participating in the full cohort process
