As part of the MCCAC’s Alberta Municipal Solar Program (AMSP), the Town of Canmore installed a 78.54 kW solar PV system on the roof of their Waste Management Centre. The project was completed in November 2018.

In 2020, the Town of Canmore installed a 94.4 kW solar PV expansion on the roof of the Waste Management Centre. The expansion was completed in 2020.

When combined with the existing solar system at the Waste Management Centre, we are now offsetting 100 percent of the power usage at the facility. This system reduces the town’s Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions by 50 tonnes of CO2e annually and is an important step towards reducing GHG emissions by 50 percent in 2030.
