As part of the MCCAC’s Solar for Schools Program (SFS), Canadian Rockies Regional Division No. 12 installed a 132.8 kW solar PV system on the roof of the Lawrence Grassi Middle School in Canmore. The project was completed in January 2020.

Installing Solar panels are a sustainable and clean alternative to produce energy. With the cost of solar installation falling, installing solar energy has become a much more reasonable option. This solar project installed 353solar panels on the Lawrence Grassi Middle School roof producing 132.84kW of power. This system will produce 140,096kWh per year which will offset 53% of the school’s annual energy demand. Installation of this system at the school will provide a bright future for the students who attend the school.

It’s nice to see our school division moving towards more sustainable energy sources
