As part of the MCCAC’s Recreation Energy Conservation (REC) program, the Town of Drayton Valley completed a large scale lighting retrofit of the Omniplex Recreation Centre upgrading 121 of the facility’s existing lighting fixtures with 117 low-wattage LED fixtures. All lighting within the recreation centre have now been updated to LEDs. After recording ilumination levels before and after the retrofit, it was discovered that the LED highbays drastically increased the amount of light over the areas, while also cutting the electricity use and electrical demand in half.

The project was completed in August 2020.

“The Town of Drayton Valley is proud to be a receipient of the Recreation Energy Conservation program grant through MCCAC and is excited to upgrade Omni One and Omni Two for the enjoyment of the community as well as vistors to the complex. I was very impressed by the outcome. It’s much brighter in here, and I believe the improved visibility will create a safer environment for our skaters. I think our users will be impressed by the difference this retrofit has made to the facility and will add to the user experience.”
