Overview

As part of the MCCAC’s Electric Vehicle Charging Program (EVCP), the County of Red Deer purchased and installed two Level 2 EV charging stations for a total cost and rebate of $13,983.62. The two FLO X5 chargers were installed at the Red Deer County Centre and are for private use by the Red Deer County fleet.

Approach

Red Deer County was quick to take advantage of the EVCP Program and received a $13,983.62 grant to help cover 100% of the total project cost. The County was pleased to receive funding to increase efficiencies and reduce environmental impact.

Results

The two new Level 2 charging stations will provide a quick and reliable charging option for Red Deer County’s new Kia Niro EV, which was purchased through the MCCAC’s EVM Program. The newly installed EV charging stations will allow Red Deer County to purchase additional EV’s in future. Level 2 charging stations provide around 20-40 kilometers of range per hour of charge, and can typically provide a full charge in roughly 8 hours.

The County is pleased to receive funding for both of these projects and looks towards new opportunities to increase efficiencies in reaching our environmental goals.
