The Town of Redwater completed a retrofit on their Town Office in 2013. Energy saving measures included replacing manual thermostats with programmable models, replacing the weatherstripping along exterior doors and windows, and updating T12 and incandescent lighting to T8s and CFLs.
The payback period for the project is only 3.6 years, with the updates anticipated to net cost savings of $3,003, energy savings of 225 GJ, and 18 tonnes of CO2 on an annual basis.
