OVERVIEW

As part of the Electric Vehicles for Municipalities program the Town of Taber received a new electric Zamboni to be used within their municipal recreation center. The Town received a total rebate of $42,405.00 for the new Zamboni.

This project was funded by the Government of Alberta.

APPROACH

The Town will be replacing an outdated ice resurfacer from 2012 with the new electric Zamboni. Both the Town Council and Mayor have expressed that purchasing the electric unit was a fantastic endeavor.

RESULTS

This project shows the Town’s commitment to reducing GHGs and protecting the environment. With the new electric Zamboni, the Town can expect significantly lower operating cost, and improved indoor air quality.

We are so grateful for the MCCAC Grant and we are already seeing the impact of the new equipment.  This past week, Taber was the proud host to the VERSET Summer Hockey Camp and we heard from the NHL players that the ice was fantastic.  We couldn’t be more pleased with our new electric Zamboni and look forward to many years of cleaner energy usage and better air quality in the facility
