OVERVIEW

As part of the Electric Vehicle Charging Program (EVCP), the Village of Warner now has two new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations (3 plugs), at two different locations.

  • Location One – Village Office
  • One level 2 FLO Smart charger – 1 plug
  • Location Two – Civic Centre
  • One level 2 FLO Smart charger – 2 plugs

The new level 2 chargers are capable of outputting 7.2 kW of power and can charge an EV battery from near empty to 100% capacity in 8-10 hours. Both of the chargers are available for public use and are free to use. Level 2 chargers are often used when an EV/PHEV driver will be parked in the same location for upwards of two hours.

The Village received $30,000.00 for the project from the MCCAC to cover the majority of the project cost.

This EVCP Program was funded by the Government of Alberta and Natural Resources Canada.

APPROACH

The addition of the two EV chargers is great step by the Village of Warner in promoting sustainability and the shift to EVs. Village residents and travelers now have two excellent options to stop and charge their EVs/PHEVs. As more Albertans begin to drive EVs, having a robust and established EV charging network will be essential. The new stations provide ease of mind for EV drivers in the area.

[The] Electric vehicle charging stations would not be possible to install without the assistance of the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre”. With the increase of electric vehicles on the road, our small village can now provide a service for those that visit our community and that use our facilities.
