The Municipal Climate Change Action Centre is pleased to announce the next cohort of municipalities selected to participate in the Roving Energy Manager (REM) program. This program reopened in summer 2025 to offer support for municipalities in identifying energy-saving opportunities, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and improving the energy performance of their facilities.
The following municipalities have been selected to participate in the 2025–2026 cohort:
- Town of Magrath
- Village of Myrnam
- Town of Thorsby

Administration from each participating municipality will receive dedicated support for energy management services, provided by the MCCAC team, for developing a proactive approach to energy management and implementing cost-saving measures. The REM program is designed to build internal capacity and foster long-term sustainability within Alberta’s communities.
Since its launch, the REM program has helped municipalities across the province save energy, reduce operating costs, and take meaningful climate action. We’re excited to welcome this new group and look forward to seeing the impact they will make.
Applications for Cohort 3 of the Roving Energy Manager program open on October 6, 2025.
Eligible municipalities interested in participating are encouraged to visit the program page and subscribe to the MCCAC newsletter, The Current Climate, to be notified when the application period begins. To learn more about the Roving Energy Manager Program, visit our program page!
