The City of Brooks retrofitted their City Hall in 2012, making upgrades to the interior lighting. The lighting retrofit included delamping existing T8 fixtures throughout the building and replacing incandescent lighting with CFL flood lights. With costs of $1,664 and annual savings estimated at $1,986, the project will net an exceptional return – the payback period is only 10 months. The improvements are projected to cut energy use by 72 GJ and emissions by 12 tonnes per year.
