As part of the MCCAC’s Recreation Energy Conservation (REC) program, the Town of Bow Island completed a large scale lighting retrofit of the Servus Community Arena with over 100 fixtures converted to LED. MCCAC provided 75% funding and Fortis donated $5,000 towards the project, reducing the payback period from 5.4 to 1.4 years.

“The Town is very appreciative of the support received from the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre and Fortis.”

Dave Matz, Chief Administrative Officer

“Small communities like ours have limited opportunities to increase revenues at our recreation facilities so we must run them as efficiently as possible. The programs from the MCCAC and Fortis allow us to significantly reduce our arena operating costs and keep this important facility viable.”

Gordon Reynolds, Mayor
