OVERVIEW

As part of the Electric Vehicles for Municipalities program the Town of Gibbons purchased two new fully electric John Deere Gator TE’s and a Mazda CX-90 GS-L PHEV. The Town received a $27,449.36 rebate for the project to help cover the $106,031.95 purchase price.

This project was funded by the Government of Alberta.

APPROACH

The plug-in hybrid vehicle combines a conventional internal combustion engine with a battery powered electric motor, allowing for efficient and eco-conscious driving. This vehicle suits the municipality’s needs as it will save money in fuel without going fully electric.  The Town also purchased two electric Gators. These all-electric Gators are designed to handle a variety of tasks with zero emissions, contributing to a quieter and cleaner environment in the municipality.

These vehicles will be extremely useful for Town of Gibbons parks and recreation employees.

RESULTS

Government incentives, improved fuel efficiency, and the reduction of emissions are among the many benefits that come with this eco-friendly fleet expansion. The municipality remains committed to exploring innovative solutions that contribute to a greener future, and the introduction of the Mazda CX-90 PHEV and electric John Deere Gators is an expression of these forward-thinking initiatives.

“These additions to our fleet are not only a practical choice for our day-to-day operations, but also reflects the Town of Gibbons’ pursuit of sustainability through lower emissions.”
