Overview

As part of the Action Centre’s Recreation Energy Conservation Program, the Town of Provost completed an LED lighting retrofit throughout the Crescent Point Place Regional Activity Centre.

Provost Regional Activity Centre includes an outdoor swimming pool, dressing rooms, lobby, concession area, child’s activity center, washrooms, lounge area, indoor batting cage, fitness center, and skating rink.

The project was commissioned in September 2021.

Approach

The lighting retrofit project included the replacement of 620 T5s, T8s, HPS, and metal halide fixtures with an equivalent number of LED fixtures. The new LED lamps will provide higher lumen levels at a much lower wattage, thereby reducing the electricity consumption of lighting equipment under the system boundary.

Results

The lighting retrofit resulted in a reduction of 68 tCO2/year and an annual energy cost saving of $15,411.62/year thus decreasing electricity costs. There is a 45% GHG reduction from the existing system and a 9% reduction facility-wide from the baseline.
