As part of the MCCAC’s Recreation Energy Conservation (REC) program, the Town of Nanton completed a large scale lighting retrofit of the Tom Hornecker Recreation Centre updating more than 300 of the facility’s existing lighting fixtures to a low-wattage LED equivalent. All lighting within the recreation centre have now been updated to LEDs with an advanced control system. The system will include new fixtures and advanced controls that will enable staff to control lighting as necessary to reduce their operating costs and energy consumption.
The project was completed in July 2020.
“The Town is very happy with this project overall – the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre has been very helpful in all aspects of the project, the Program Ally (Sustainable Projects Group) has been very professional and has been very detailed in all the work they have done. We are excited to see the benefits of the project and excited to be able to have a more energy efficient building going forward that will benefit the users of the Tom Hornecker Recreation Centre for years to come.”
