Tools to get the job done
As a participant in the Municipal Energy Manager Program, Municipal Energy Champions Program or the Strategic Energy Manager for Large Final Emitters, you have free access to energy auditing tools to complete technical energy audits that will inform your energy efficiency projects.
Tool Inventory Available
The Tool Lending Library offers over 20 different types of tools, including digital ultrasonic flow meters, ultrasonic leak detectors, a motor usage data logger, and light and occupancy data logger.

- Digital Multimeter,
- Digital Temperature and Humidity Monitor,
- Light and Occupancy Data Logger, and more.
How to borrow tools
Strategic Energy Management for Large Final Emitters, Municipal Energy Manager, and Municipal Energy Champions program participants are eligible to borrow tools. Please follow these steps to sign up and reserve tools:
Step 1: Register – Create an account
Step 2: Reserve – Reserve tools
Step 3: Confirm – Our team will confirm your reservation
Step 4: Deliver – The tools gets shipped directly to you, or you pick up
Step 5: Return – Drop off or ship the tools back to us when you are finished
After you sign up for an account, you must agree to the program Terms and Conditions which includes liabilities, responsibilities and replacement costs.
Register
First, create an account on our reservation site. The username should be your first initial followed by your last name. (i.e. Joe Smith would be jsmith). Once you create an account, the Action Centre staff will confirm your eligibility. If you are eligible, the account will be approved, and you can begin reserving tools.
Tip: Make sure to review and agree to the Terms and Conditions.
Reserve
You can use the reserved tools for varying types of projects up to 30 days. If you need an extension beyond 30 days, contact us.
Tip: Please wait for a confirmation before scheduling your project. It could take up to two business days to hear from our staff.
Make a reservation
- Choose the tools you want to reserve
- Select Reserve
- Pick the dates you want to borrow the tools in the calendar
- Then +Add Items
- Follow steps 1 to 4 for all other items being requested
- When all desired tools have been added to your cart, click on Cart and confirm that the list is complete
- Select either Please ship these items to me or I will pick these items up
- In the comments, please enter the municipality’s shipping address, if you requested shipping
- Click on Submit Reservation
Confirm
You will receive an email from the Action Centre confirming your reservation request. The order will be reviewed by Action Centre staff within 48 hours of receiving the request. Finally, you will receive an email stating if the order has been confirmed, or if any changes are required.
Pickup tools on Monday to Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Deliver
We will coordinate a pick-up time from Alberta Municipal Place, or we will ship the tools to you.

Return
Drop off the tools in person Monday to Friday, from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or arrange for return shipping with our Purolator Account. If you are shipping the tools, please courier them to Alberta Municipal Place, 300, 8616 – 51 Avenue, Edmonton, AB, T6E 6E6.
