OVERVIEW
As part of the Municipal Energy Manager (MEM) Program, the City of Airdrie has hired a Municipal Energy Advisor that will benchmark municipal facilities, identify energy savings opportunities, and implement greenhouse gas emission-reducing projects.
The MEM program was an excellent catalyst for the City to be able to focus on overall GHG reductions. This program was instrumental in creating a strategy with both short-term and long-term targets. By incorporating energy efficiency into everyday routines, regular maintenance processes, and future planning, ongoing reductions are being achieved. This accelerated refocus would not have been possible without the MEM program.
