OVERVIEW

The Village of Mannville took part in the Electric Vehicles for Municipalities (EVM) program by purchasing 14 new fully electric FTR golf carts, to be used at the municipal golf course. Through the EVM program, the Village received a $41,916.00 rebate to help offset the total project cost.

This project was funded by the Government of Alberta.

APPROACH

The Town purchased the new FTR golfs as more sustainable addition to there already existing golf cart fleet. Each cart is equipped with a 105 amp-hour lithium-ion battery which has a charge time of 5 hours from zero to 100%. The solar drive system has a 20-year life span and comes with a 5-year warranty. The FTR golf carts were purchased from FTR Golf based out of Wainwright, Alberta.

RESULTS

The 14 new electric golf carts boast several advantages compared to traditional golf carts. The new carts are quieter to operate, are significantly cheaper to maintain and operate, and do not produce any greenhouse gas emissions during operation. Overall, the new golf carts will provide a greener and more enjoyable experience for the municipality’s golfers.

We are thrilled to be able to make the switch to these electric carts, not only are they better for the environment, but they also provide a more enjoyable experience for our golfers
