Overview
In 2026, the Town of Diamond Valley completed a 51 kW solar photovoltaic project at the Sheep River Library. Funded by the Government of Alberta through the Municipal Electricity Generation Program delivered by MCCAC, this project represents a major step in the Town’s commitment to sustainability and reducing our environmental footprint..
Approach
The 51 kW project was installed on the roof of the building with a racking system and consisted of 84 solar modules. The project was installed by Infinity Solar.
Results
The project is expected to produce about 57,529 kWh of clean electricity each year. This will reduce the Town’s electricity costs by roughly $10,930.51 annually and lower greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 28.23 tonnes of CO₂e per year. The project is expected to reduce facility-wide GHG emissions by 78.5% annually.
