Overview
In 2026, the Town of Magrath advanced a domestic hot-water efficiency project at the Recreation Centre through the Community Energy Conservation Program. Supported by an estimated $4,265.95 incentive toward the $16,362.70 project cost, the upgrade replaces conventional equipment with two tankless water heaters.
Approach
MTN Plumbing & Heating installed two tankless domestic hot-water heaters at the Garth Veale Arena and Magrath Pool. The new equipment produces hot water on demand, reducing standby losses and natural gas use while providing reliable service for facility operations and users.
Results
The project is expected to save 27.03 GJ of natural gas and approximately $100.92 each year. Annual greenhouse gas emissions are projected to fall by 1.42 tonnes of CO2e, with 28.44 tonnes avoided over the equipment’s expected life. The upgrade renews domestic hot-water equipment with a more efficient on-demand system. It reduces natural gas consumption and emissions while supporting dependable operation of a community recreation facility.
