Overview
In 2026, the Town of Bentley completed a low-emissivity ceiling and LED lighting retrofit at the Bentley Arena through the Community Energy Conservation Program. Supported by a $44,541.29 incentive toward the $97,501.50 project cost, the project improves energy performance and enhances a facility that supports sport, recreation, and community events.
Approach
Outlaw Electric and Global Sport Resources installed a low-emissivity ceiling and replaced 45 six-lamp T5 fixtures with 50 LED highbay fixtures. The low-e ceiling uses a reflective surface to limit radiant heat transfer between the arena space and the roof structure, helping keep heat where it is needed and reducing unwanted heat gain over the ice. This can lower the workload on refrigeration and heating systems while improving comfort and temperature stability. Pairing the ceiling and lighting measures improves arena conditions while reducing electricity use and operating demands.
Results
The project is expected to save 87,345 kWh of electricity and approximately $11,782.80 each year. Annual greenhouse gas emissions are projected to fall by 42.86 tonnes of CO2e, with 539.67 tonnes avoided over the measures’ expected lives. This results in a facility-wide GHG reduction of 14.7%.
