TOOLS TO GET THE JOB DONE

Are you looking to understand your municipal buildings’ energy use?

Are you a facility manager, mechanical engineer, or infrastructure director for a municipality in Alberta?

Or, are you participating in the Municipal Energy Manager Program or the Municipal Energy Champions Program?

Borrow energy auditing tools to do technical energy audits and inform your energy efficiency projects for free through the Tool Lending Library.

The Tool Lending Library offers over 20 different types of tools, including digital ultrasonic flow meters, ultrasonic leak detectors, a motor usage data logger, and light and occupancy data logger.

Tools available include:

  • Magnetic Ballast Detector/Discriminator,
  • Digital Multimeter,
  • Digital Temperature and Humidity Monitor,
  • Light and Occupancy Data Logger, and more.

When you borrow from the Tool Lending Library you get:

How to borrow tools

Any municipal staff member responsible for managing municipal facilities can borrow tools.

Please follow these steps to sign up and reserve tools:

Step 1: Review this document to choose the tools you would like to borrow.

Step 2: Email sustyservices@abmunis.ca to request a tool and include the following information. 

  • Item Number
  • Name of Tool
  • How long you need the tools for (maximum loan periods are 8 weeks).
  • Address to sent tools to if you want them delivered or if you will pick them up.
  • Intended usage of the tool

Tip: Please wait for a confirmation before scheduling your project. It could take up to two business days to process your request.

Step 3: Confirm – Our team will confirm your reservation. To participate in the Tool Lending Library, you must agree to our program Terms and Conditions which include liabilities, responsibilities, and replacement costs. First time users will be asked to sign the terms and conditions, which will apply anytime you are renting a tool.

Step 4: Delivery – Tools will be shipped directly to you, or you can pick them up. We will coordinate a pick-up time from Alberta Municipal Place, or we will ship the tools to you. Pick up is available Monday to Friday from 8:15am to 4:30pm. Note: Alberta Municipal Place is located at 300, 8616 51 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta, T6E 6E6.

Step 5: Return – Return or ship the tools back to us when you are finished.

Return the tools in person Monday to Friday, from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or arrange for return shipping with our Purolator Account. If you are shipping the tools, please courier them to Alberta Municipal Place, 300, 8616 – 51 Avenue, Edmonton, AB, T6E 6E6.
