Overview

In 2026, the City of St. Albert completed a lighting and controls retrofit at Beaudry Place through the Community Energy Conservation Program. Supported by an $8,988.31 incentive toward the $110,883 project cost, the project modernizes building systems and reduces electricity use in an essential municipal facility.

Approach

Working with their contractor, the City replaced 100 T8 and compact-fluorescent fixtures with 100 LED troffers and pot lights and upgraded associated controls. The combined lighting and controls upgrade improves system performance, reliability, and management of electricity use.

Results

The project is expected to save 14,532 kWh of electricity and approximately $2,355.41 each year. Annual greenhouse gas emissions are projected to fall by 6.67 tonnes of CO2e, with 64.55 tonnes avoided over the measures’ expected lives. The recorded incentive-supported simple payback is 43.3 years. The retrofit provides more efficient, reliable lighting and improved control in a facility that supports emergency operations. The project also reduces energy consumption and maintenance demands while advancing the City’s ongoing investment in sustainable municipal infrastructure.
