Kinsmen Leisure Centre Lighting Retrofit

OVERVIEW

As part of the MCCAC’s Recreation Energy Conservation (REC) program, Strathcona County completed a lighting retrofit of the Kinsmen Leisure Centre updating their lighting fixtures in the facility to LED fixtures. The project was completed in October, 2020.

APPROACH

The Kinsmen Leisure Centre lighting retrofit project involves the replacement of existing induction lamp fixtures with their equivalent LED lamp technology. The LED lamps will provide similar lumen levels at much lower wattage, thereby reducing electricity consumption of lighting equipment under the system boundary.

RESULTS

The retrofit involved the replacement of 44 fixtures with total fixtures reduced to 24 LED fixtures. By doing so, this retrofit is expected to cut the electrical demand and consumption by approximately 73%.
