Red Deer City Hall Lighting Upgrade – City of Red Deer

Overview

As part of the Action Centre’s Community Energy Conservation Program, the City of Red Deer completed an LED lighting retrofit throughout the Red Deer City Hall. The project replaced aging lighting equipment with high-efficiency LED fixtures, reducing electricity consumption while improving lighting quality for facility users.

Approach

The City replaced existing 270 T5, T8, and T12 fluorescent fixtures with high-efficiency LED equivalents. Work was coordinated to minimize impacts to facility operations while improving visibility, reliability, and energy performance.

Results

The lighting upgrade is expected to reduce electricity consumption by approximately 124,000 annually, resulting in yearly utility savings of about $21,079.66. The project will also reduce greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 60.85 tonnes of CO₂e each year. In addition to energy savings, facility users benefit from improved lighting quality and reduced maintenance requirements.

Changing out the fluorescent bulbs for more energy efficient LED lights is in alignment with The City’s Environmental Master Plan.
