The MCCAC is winding down after 17 successful years

Alberta Municipalities has begun winding down the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC) in alignment with the provincial government’s direction and funding timelines. The wind-down is expected to be completed by June 2027.

All energy upgrade and electricity generation projects with existing signed agreements will proceed. Some Community Energy Conservation Program applications will not go ahead. Applications that are currently in process are being finalized, with proponents informed directly of outcomes and next steps. Core programs such as the Municipal Energy Manager and Roving Energy Manager initiatives are being wound down in accordance with defined timelines. Proponents were informed of the status of their applications by email on June 25.

Administration is assessing options for future service delivery models that could build on the MCCAC’s strengths and support members in priority areas.

We are grateful for the opportunities we’ve had to serve Albertan municipalities over the past two decades.
