Overview

As part of the Electric Vehicles for Municipalities program the City of Leduc purchased, and received a $11,971.58 rebate to help cover the $39,905.26 cost for two new electric John Deere Gator TE’s. The new electric Gators will be used in the City’s operations fleet.

Approach

The new electric Gators will replace a pair of Kawasaki UTV’s that had reached the end of their service life. The new electric units will have a lifetime of upwards of five years.

Results

The new John Deere Gators boasts several benefits for City’s staff and residents. The new electric units will have lower maintenance costs, will be quieter to operate and do not emit any GHG emissions during operation. The new Gators, along with the solar carport and electric vehicle charging stations in downtown Leduc are the newest investments in promoting green energy alternatives and reducing carbon emissions in the City.

The City of Leduc is continuing to find opportunities to lower its carbon footprint and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The two new electric gators are a welcomed addition to our operations equipment and we’re excited to get them into operation.
