OVERVIEW

As part of the Electric Vehicle Charging Program (EVCP), the Village of Glenwood now has two new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations (4 plugs), at the Glenwood Municipal Library and Office.

The new level 2 chargers are capable of outputting 7.2 kW of power and can charge an EV battery from near empty to 100% capacity in 8-10 hours. Both of the chargers have two plugs, meaning up to four vehicles can be charging at the same time. Both chargers are available for public use and are free to use.

This EVCP Program was funded by the Government of Alberta and Natural Resources Canada.

APPROACH

The addition of the two chargers is great step by the Village in promoting sustainability and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Visitors of the Village and residents now have two excellent charging options. As more Albertan’s begin driving EVs, have a robust and established charging network will be essential.

The Village of Glenwood is located 215 kilometres south of Calgary, and has a population of roughly 300 people.

On behalf of the Council and residents of the Village of Glenwood, I extend my sincere appreciate for the funding received for this project from the Province of Alberta.
